Summer Movie Watch List

Kids And Family
1. The Lion King - July 18
This is one flick you won't have trouble sitting through with your tots. This live-action remake (one of Disney's many) re-tells the Shakespeare-based story of Simba, a young lion who loses his father and is next in line for the throne. This journey is a classic filled with Elton John's original songs. Expect to re-live the nostalgia you remember as your children fall in love with this story in a brand new way. With Beyonce, Donald Glover, Seth Rogan, and more stars voicing the iconic characters, this long-anticipated movie is a must-see this summer.

2. Dora And The Lost City Of Gold - August 9
This live-action take on the classic Nickelodeon cartoon focuses on teenage Dora adjusting to high school. Our unlikely hero finds herself in the jungle with some of her pals and her monkey friend Boots in an adventure to save her parents. This fun flick is great for those who grew up with this explorer.

3. Angry Birds 2 - August 16
The normally feuding birds and pigs are back again. However, instead of fighting each other, they're banding together to fight against a force that threatens to destroy their way of life. Based on their favorite game of the same name, this movie might make them glued to your iPad...again.

4. The Secret Life Of Pets 2 - June 7
This sequel brings us back to Max and friends once more as the main puppy and his pals adjust to life changes. The family goes on vacation and takes Max with them, where he embarks on another furry adventure. Catch this cute flick that is brought to you by the guys who gave you minions.

5. Toy Story - June 21
Woody and the gang are back again in the 4th installment of this franchise. Instead of hanging out in Andy's room, the gang follows new kid Bonnie and her family on an RV road trip with her new toy, Forkie (a spork.) When Forkie runs away, Woody finds himself on a new adventure. Adults who grew up with the franchise may shed a tear or five, but if you bring a kid, they'll be bound to fall in love with this group of toys just like you did.

Movies For Women
1. Where'd You Go, Bernadette? - August 16
Readers looking for a summer novel will love this movie which is based on a book of the same name. Bernadette is a woman who has everything - but then she goes missing. Her family goes on an adventure to find her - revealing more about Bernadette than they originally imagined.

2. The Farewell - July 12
Billi (Awkwafina) and her family go to China for a "wedding." The wedding is fake because her grandmother is dying and they're actually coming to say goodbye. What could possibly go wrong?

Comedy
1. The Art Of Self Defense - July 12
When a young man is mugged, he takes up the art of karate and martial arts only to fall in love with the owner of the dojo. Naturally, Jesse Eisenberg plays the main character, charming and awkward all at the same time, which makes this flick one you'll have to catch.

2. My Spy - August 23
A CIA operative (Dave Bautista) is put in between a rock and hard place when he is caught spying on a family by the family's daughter. In exchange for keeping his cover, he must teach her how to be a spy. This comedy/action-adventure movie is PG-13 but a fun flick for more than just mom and dad.

Horror
1. Crawl - July 12
A hurricane hits the Everglades and mandatory evacuations are made, but Haley refuses to leave to find her missing father. The two find themselves in a flood, where they struggle to stay alive and find some unlikely villains...

2. Midsommar - July 3
A couple joins their friends on a trip to a midsummer festival in Sweeden. As happy as it starts, things begin to take a dark turn when they stumble upon villagers who are a little too welcome...

4. Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark - August 9
Guillermo Del Toro gives us this take on the book of the same name that gets a little too real. A girl name Sarah records her lifetime worth of horrifying stories in a book. A group of teenagers finds it. What ensues is just something you'll have to see for yourself.

5. Ready Or Not - August 23
A young bride goes to meet the family of her fiance the night before the wedding. As she meets his eccentric brood, what turns into a family trip turns into something you'll only find in nightmares.

6. It, Chapter Two - September 6
Technically, September is still summer, right? Scare yourself silly into the fall with this flick. Pennywise the Clown is back to haunt the Losers Club 27 years later. As we know, IT comes back every 27 years. Now, the adults must figure out how to get rid of him - again (along with other adult problems, like paying their taxes.) All jokes aside, this one is a must-see.
