The dynamics of society have changed dramatically in the last decade or two. Between the growing influence of political correctness and the impact of the Internet on our daily lives, what the world needs most is for us to be our authentic selves. Each of us is a one-of-a-kind, and we only make our best mark on the world when we place our unique stamp on it. The following are a few of the great reasons to be yourself, in the midst of everything.
Only Realness Rings True
Kids are especially talented at sizing up adults and figuring out which ones are genuine and which ones are just pretending to like them. Even us adults are all natural bloodhounds to an extent, when it comes to noticing when a person is a fake. Those who habitually live disingenuous lives don’t even realize how obvious their façade is. (Tragic!)
People who are their true selves and also like themselves are just about the most likeable people. An exception is when the person is a narcissist. Besides that, people are comfortable associating with authentic individuals and are drawn to them like flies but in a good way.
Life is Less Complicated
Being yourself is the most natural thing. When you’re trying to impress people, you put on an act, to an extent. It’s like you’re living out a play and need to remember what was said and done in the previous scene. This can become a heavy burden, since you don’t want to expose the fact that you’re a phony.
There is such ease to being yourself, especially when you’ve dealt with the issues that previously filled you with self-doubt. You could also live longer, since stress is a killer and it’s less stressful to be honest and real.
The Right People are Drawn to You
When you are effortlessly yourself and have nothing to prove, you will easily make connections with similar people. Everyone has to deal with their “demons,” so to speak, to get to the best life offers. If you are free to be you, life no longer has limitations. Others who still live in their personal prisons can’t relate to such freedom. They tend to fall to the wayside, literally because they can’t yet handle the truth.
You Discover your Unique Purpose
The struggle with life is over, when you get down to the bare bones of who you are and who you were created to be. While other people are working at jobs they hate, you have the freedom to fulfill your destiny. Though you may need to put in some sweat equity, there is a flow to the direction life takes you.
You’re Awesome
Recognizing that you’re pretty fabulous is a good thing, especially because you’re the only you there is. Here’s hoping you’re one of the lucky ones who shakes off the things that need shaking and live an authentic life.
