4 Reasons Not to Give up on Love

4 Reasons Not to Give up on Love

With Valentine’s Day just ahead, it’s difficult to avoid reminders that Cupid has come to town. If you don’t currently have a significant other, don’t sweat it. Millions of people are in the same position. There’s somebody out there who is a perfect fit for you. You may or may not have already met that someone. Keep your heart open and don’t give up on love, for the following reasons and more.

Love Takes Time

Love strikes in many ways. The kind that happens at first sight is shallow and superficial. However, plenty of old-timers tell about deciding to marry their spouse the first time laying eyes on him or her; and they are still married some 60 or 70 years later. Granted, love at first sight can happen. But it’s probably more common that love grows on you. As you get to know a person, you realize being with them feels like being home. You feel more alive in their presence and love may just suddenly be recognized for what it is. Hang in there. Love can absolutely happen to you.

Someone’s Waiting for You

If you flip things around, you might realize that not only is there someone out there for you, someone out there is waiting for you to come along. Let that inspire you to wake up hopeful every day. Enjoy your life and just be busy doing what you love when you’re not taking care of your responsibilities. And don’t constantly look for love. Let it find you or hit you like an unexpected bolt of lightning. There’s a very accurate saying that a watched pot never boils. This applies to love. What you long for will more likely be found when you’re not desperately searching for it.

Love is the Best…

Think about the people you enjoy being with most of all. For many of us, we love our family members. Being with them or with best friends makes our heart happy. When you love someone in a romantic relationship, it’s even better. In case you’ve never experienced it, just know that more than anything else, love is what makes life truly wonderful. It helps for both individuals to be committed to the relationship and work through difficult times with no thoughts of looking back. Otherwise, nothing can break your heart quite as completely as love. Another old adage that is as true as anything is that it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. Memories of love can keep you warm on the coldest, loneliest nights long after you’ve grown old.

You May Have Been in the Wrong Places

If you’re discouraged because your desire for love isn’t producing any results, think about what you do with your free time. Could be that the things you do and the places you go don’t open up opportunities to meet people. You may even need to sign up for a dating site or visit a wine tasting. The point is that you have to give love a chance by being where the people you might be attracted to might be found.

May Love Find You

On Valentine’s Day, remember that if you follow your heart, you can be one of the lucky ones who falls in love. Hold on to hope, and here’s hoping love finds you.
